2003-2004 Needs Assessment & Follow up Work
Phase I of Needs Assessment
While human service agencies had been working hard delivering
valuable services, the information about their work had never
been formally coordinated or organized, giving only partial
snapshots of our community's human service needs. With the
help of human service agencies and key community contacts,
HHHS completed a Human Services Needs Assessment in
2003. This needs assessment survey and the information
compiled from the new database on actual human services, provided
the first comprehensive look at the human service needs on
Bainbridge Island.

Phase II of Needs Assessment
Even before the needs assessment was completed, HHHS realized
that the assessment was only the beginning of our community’s
commitment to ensuring access to needed human services. The
Needs Assessment’s value went beyond identifying service
gaps; it also laid the groundwork for devising strategies
to address the identified needs. Between November 2003 and
May 2004, over 70 volunteer community members and others have
been involved in the important work of moving from assessment
to action.
Needs Assessment Follow Up Reports:
A Steering Committee, including representative of Island
human service agencies, the City, business community, interfaith
community, schools and HHHS, formed to oversee the follow
up to the needs assessment.
Five Action Teams were formed around the
service gaps identified in the needs assessment. Please click
